Unity Charter School is proudly celebrating a remarkable achievement as Science Integrationist Erin Colfax has been named one of the winners of the 26th annual Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards, New Jersey’s premier recognition of outstanding environmental achievements, programs, and projects. Colfax received this honor in the category of Environmental Education, a testament to her exceptional leadership in bringing sustainability and climate-focused learning to life for Unity students.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Educators from across New Jersey gathered at Unity Charter School on November 18, 2025, for an inspiring hands-on workshop titled Climate Change at the School Yard’s Edge. Presented by Unity’s seventh-grade students in collaboration with the school’s Science Integrationist, Erin Colfax, the event showcased how student leadership and place-based learning can bring the New Jersey Climate Change Standards to life.
