Kris's 8th grade mathematics class used their creativity, as well as their knowledge of numbers in scientific notation, to create a new solar system.

Students converted very large numbers using the Prefix System to all sorts of measurements; including terameters, nanometers, and square kilometers.

Students also had a creative writing aspect to the project, where they gave their own planet a backstory including history, population, animal and plant life, and even fashion trends!

The last portion of the project was a practical examination, where the entire class worked as a group to place their planets correctly on the class diagram.
