This year, Unity is delighted to be participating in The Global Read Aloud across all grade levels. Students are reading, discussing, and responding to the text during their ELA classes and connecting with students around the world during technology. We are using technology tools such as Flipgrid, Padelt, Twitter, and Seesaw to connect. Kindergarten and K/1 are doing a picture book study of authors Julie Flett and Monique Grey Smith, 1/2 and 2/3 are reading A Boy Called Bat by Elana K. Arnold, the 3/4 classes are reading Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed, and the middle school students are reading Refugee by Alan Gratz. We have done lots of concept exploring through projects that use technological tools for learning. For example, middle school has learned more about the individual stories of Refugees and shared their knowledge using Padlet. You can check out our Padlet here: padlet.com/amy_mercado/w7k0ydm02r0h.
