The mission of the Unity Parent-Teacher Organization is to provide support to the teachers and students at the Unity Charter School and to promote the Mission of Sustainability within the school as well as out into the community.
Membership of the PTO includes parents, legal guardians, staff, students, alumni and Board of Trustee members of The Unity Charter School. We work with the administration and the Board of Trustees in support of the school’s mission, programs and activities.
The responsibilities of the PTO are:
- to create a forum for the expression and exchange of ideas within the school community
- to provide educational programs and forums for parents
- to organize and promote projects beneficial to the Unity community at large.
Our efforts serve to enhance and maximize the education of every child while aiding them in achieving their highest potential. The PTO holds fund-raisers for supplemental educational materials and experiences, supports school and family social interaction, and provides support for our teachers. Everything we do reflects Unity’s mission of teaching the principles and practices of sustainability.
The PTO Executive Board consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer who agree to serve a two-year term. PTO committees are run by chairs who commit to a one-year term. To assist parents in developing a meaningful partnership with the school, the PTO offers many opportunities for parents to be involved in a wide range of volunteer activities.
