The students at Unity Charter School held a Spirit Day and Community Service project all in one! Thursday, January 14th was Bring Your Stuffed Animal to School Day. Each student was welcome to bring one or two stuffed pals to school for a $1 donation per animal. Each dollar raised would help real life fuzzy friends at St.Hubert’s Animal Shelter in Madison.

St Huberts donations

The school raised $174.32 just by cuddling their stuffed animals for a day. A representative from St. Hubert’s then came in to the kindergarten and kindergarten/first grade learning groups to explain animal adoption and what volunteers/workers do at the shelter. The children were excited to hand over their monetary donation as well as stuffed toy mice that the sewing interest group made for the homeless cats.
